Okay, I’m biased – I love the Grinch, so I was probably going to love this game regardless of how good it is. Actually, I pretty much love all things from that gentle madman, Theodor Geisel, also known as our friend, Dr. Seuss (a doctorate in what, I wonder?). But this set of two games is actually pretty good all on its own.
First off is a menu accompanied by some jaunty tunes while the title “Grinchmas” flashes across the top like its a tacky department store. You can choose from two games: Mean Grinch or Merry Grinch. To be honest, there isn’t much difference between them:
- Mean Grinch: This game asks you to “splat” as many Who houses with snowballs as possible, to keep those pesky Whos from irritting the bejesus out of you with musical interludes.
- Merry Grinch: Aww, the Grinch’s heart has finally grown nice and plump, and you are helping keep it big by pelting the same Who houses with gifts.
I actually played these games for a while myself and the functionality is pretty good. Flicking snowballs or gifts at a series of houses that light up, change colour, etc. is silly, easy to figure out and entertaining. And really, wasn’t that what Theodor was trying to get across?
You’ll like it because: Who doesn’t like the Grinch? Plus the games are fun on their own.
Too bad: It would have been nice if the games were slightly more different, but I’m just being Grinchy.
